I Like Me
I went to see Practical Magic 2 by myself and made a day of it. Walking back to my car, I heard the words rise up: “I like me.”

They felt simple, and they reached somewhere tender.
I know how easily I can shape myself around what makes other people comfortable. I can go along, make room, and lose touch with the small things I want. Somewhere in that, I can forget how much joy there is in being myself.
That day, I chose the movie because I wanted to see it. I let the experience be mine, and I met myself there: curious, content, enjoying a day I had chosen.
The movie’s words stayed with me: “Live a little. Live a lot.”
Maybe living a little begins with choosing what calls to you. Maybe living a lot grows from giving yourself permission to follow that feeling—and discovering, along the way, that you like the company you’re keeping.
