Peace of Mind Begins with Three Choices

We spend so much of our energy wrestling with life—trying to fix, predict, and control everything around us. The truth? Most of it was never ours to hold. No wonder we feel exhausted.

Peace of mind doesn’t arrive when every problem is solved. It arrives when we learn to sort what we carry. To know the difference between what belongs in our hands, what we can gently influence, and what was never ours to begin with.

There are three choices. Three circles. Three ways to lighten your load.

🌱 In Your Control

This is the smallest circle, yet it holds the greatest power. It’s the daily decisions and steady habits that create the rhythm of your life.

  • How you speak to yourself.

  • How you respond when things don’t go your way.

  • How you choose to care for your body, your mind, your soul.

Think of it as the fertile ground beneath your feet. Every choice is a seed. Some will sprout quickly, others may take seasons—but together they grow into the life you long for.

💧 In Your Influence

This circle is wider. It’s the space where your presence ripples outward.

Your tone in a conversation, the way you model calm in a storm, the encouragement you offer when someone is doubting themselves. These actions matter deeply. They may not guarantee outcomes, but they shift the atmosphere.

Influence is about showing up as your truest self, trusting that your ripples extend farther than you can see. You stir the waters, but you cannot command the tide.

🍂 Out of Your Control

And then there’s the largest circle—the one most of us carry too tightly.

The past that cannot be rewritten.

The future that refuses to be predicted.

The choices and opinions that belong to someone else.

These things weigh heavy when we clutch them. But here’s the secret: the moment you release them, your hands are free again. Release isn’t weakness. It’s wisdom. It’s the courage to say, “This is not mine to carry.”

Why These Three Choices Matter

When you live tangled in everything, you burn out. When you live by these three circles, you breathe again.

You stop giving energy to what drains you. You invest in what’s real, what’s possible, what’s yours. That’s where peace of mind begins—not in having less to face, but in finally knowing where your energy belongs.

A Gentle Invitation

The next time your mind feels heavy, pause and ask yourself:

  • Is this in my control?

  • Is this in my influence?

  • Or is this out of my control?

Then act, influence, or release. One step, one choice, one moment at a time.

Because peace doesn’t come when the world finally quiets down. Peace comes when you do.
